‘Tis the Season – Gifts for Book Lovers

Momfessions‘Tis the Season holiday gift idea carnival continues today with gifts for book lovers.  As a bibliophile myself, this one should be easy. ;)

There is, of course, always the old standby option of a gift card to someplace like Books-a-Million, Barnes & Noble, or Amazon.  Another favorite gift, for me, is PaperBackSwap credits.  I am constantly running out and having to buy more, so this is a great gift for me.  (And for those who find themselves with excess points, it can be FREE!)

You could buy a book about reading, like The Little Guide to Your Well-Read Life, or a reading log/book journal.  (Levenger also has lots of other goodies for book lovers.)

And, of course, you can buy books.  Here are a few of my favorites:

Spiritual Growth
The Joy of Fearing God
Invitation to the Jesus Life
The Bible (of course!  This particular one is a gorgeous edition, well-made and long-lasting, and great for note-taking.)

Health & Food
What the Bible Says About Healthy Living
The Schwarzbein Principle

For Wives/Women
The Way Home (out of print, so you have to buy it used)
Created to Be His Help Meet

For Husbands/Men
Family Man, Family Leader

History
When in the Course of Human Events (There is some reference to evolution in a late chapter here, but otherwise the book is good.)
The Politically Incorrect Guide to the South (This is a fun one, but eye-opening, as well.)

Fiction
The Secret of the Rose series (Christian historical fiction)
Prayers for Sale (historical fiction)

I have a few here that look really good, but which I haven’t had a chance to read yet.  As I read them, if they really are as good as I expect, I may add them.  We like to read fantasy around here, too, but it’s hard to find good, clean (newer) fantasy, and I can’t think of any off the top of my head that I’m very sure I can recommend without any caveats.
