Christmas Gifts

March 15, 2010

I know, it seems crazy-early to even be thinking about Christmas.  But for those of us who are making a lot of our gifts, or making large/time-consuming gifts, we have to start planning early!

For my girls, I’m making something I actually intended for last year, but ran out of time to get done.  I’m making an 18″ doll wardrobe.  (Well, that’s the plan, anyway.)  I have in mind several basic outfits/pieces, a couple of “fancy” dresses, winter cloaks, a cheerleading uniform (if anyone knows where I can get grosgrain ribbon striped in Green Bay Packers colors without buying a ton of it, please let me know!), and a ballet costume.  (The girls would probably really appreciate a riding outfit, too, but I haven’t seen any patterns for equestrian apparel for 18″ dolls, so far.)

For the most part, the notions will be the most expensive part of this.  I collected the patterns on sale at JoAnn, and a lot of the fabric is scraps left over from making clothing or other items for the actual people in the household.

I haven’t planned anything for anyone else yet, though, and am keeping my eyes open for ideas.  Are any of you planning projects yet?  What are you making?  Or what did you make last year?
