What My Family Believes

September 29, 2009

  • We believe in all of the historical, basic tenets of the Christian faith, as articulated in the Apostles’ Creed – in the trinity, the virgin birth, Christ’s death and resurrection, etc.
  • We are Sovereigntist (Read “Calvinist” if it makes more sense to you :) ), meaning we believe in the Doctrines of Grace/Canons of Dordt as put forth by the Synod of Dordt (not Calvin!) in 1618-19.
  • We are credobaptist, meaning we believe in the baptism of confessing believers (and not their babies).
  • We are non-cessationist, meaning we believe the gifts of the Holy Spirit were never revoked (although many are much abused).
  • We believe men and women have clearly-defined God-ordained roles.
  • We believe that the purpose of the Church meeting is to worship God and equip the saints for ministry.
  • We believe the responsibility for training and educating children rests squarely on the shoulders of their parents.
  • We believe that the Bible is absolutely and literally true, and is to be our standard in every area of life without exception.
