Building Your Own Website

Learning HTML

HTML is not terribly difficult to learn. You may wish to program your entire site from scratch, or you might like to learn just a bit so you can understand what's going on in the background as you design pages in a drag-and-drop creator.

My very first introduction to HTML was the "web pages" page at howstuffworks.com. This will give you a basic understanding of how a page works, without overwhelming you.

When you're done with that, head on over to HTML Code Tutorial for free tutorials, broken down by category. Or do a search for "free html tutorial."

If you prefer to have instructions all in one place, consider Phyllis Wheeler's e-book, Web Site ABC's.

Have fun!
